Centuries ago, a cultist managed to briefly summon and seduce the demon lord Pazuzu. It was prophesied that their thirteenth-generation descendant would corrupt the purest soul and channel Pazuzu’s power to reshape part of the material plane into a reflection of the demon lord’s domain.

The cult has dwindled in numbers since then, but they managed to trace the bloodline to the minor noble Marion Etherin. For years, Marion sought the favor of the pure-hearted Lady Glenda Allaste, hoping to marry into her prestigious house. His plans collapsed when Lord Allaste arranged her engagement to the heir of the prosperous Duchy of Grandelin.

Refusing to accept defeat, Marion chose to strike during the one-week wedding celebration held at Heaven’s Envy, a luxurious and highly exclusive flying resort owned by the Grandelin family. With a combination of bribery and demonic charm, he recruited the captain, who agreed to smuggle the cultists into the retreat. As a result, dark rituals have been stirring a chain of escalating thunderstorms for the past few days, allowing Pazuzu’s corruptive influence to seep into Heaven’s Envy.

Enzel, the wizard who was second in command, was afflicted with a growing madness after finding the cultists’ hiding place, but managed to send for help before it consumed her. The characters arrive on the day of the wedding, just in time to witness Enzel plunging to her death from the retreat’s highest tower, after having triggered an emergency protocol preventing anyone from leaving the retreat.

During the course of the day, three increasingly powerful storms will start bringing forth demonic creatures, building up to the wedding night when Marion plans to complete the corruption of Lady Glenda, fulfill the prophecy, and claim his birthright.

Tome of Demons Vol. V is a Fifth Edition adventure for four to six adventurers with an average party level (APL) of 6. Due to the nature of this adventure, parties that include characters with a fly speed and characters that are resistant to lightning damage will have an advantage.
